Question: Where is the quiet place you can read books or have coffee on your own in new york city?

The Roasting Plant is a cute cafe in the west village that's open 24 hours. it's pretty quiet, but it is quite small and fills up easily.

Any of the Barnes & Noble book stores that have coffee shops. I especially like the one at Union Square. 33 E. 17th Street, (212) 253-0810 yelp.com/ biz/ barnes-and-noble-new-york-3 Sitting outdoors would be nice, now that we are having good weather. Look for a pocket park with benches in you area. I like Tompkins Square Park, Avenues A to B, and East 7 to East 10 streets and the square near St. Mark's Church, E. 10th Steet & 2nd Ave. Just be aware of Green Market days, Sundays at Tompkins Square and Tuesdays at St. Marks.
