Question: Why do coffee cups have impossibly small handles?
(Posted by: Todd's on 2006-08-20 18:20:36)
I mean...C'mon...it's a stinkin' hot beverage and the arty cafe shop cups just don't make any logical sense. |

Don't get me started on bad design... I could list about 100 more things to complain about. I love arty stuff and looks are important to me, but give me first and foremost stuff that works and is practical! |

I thought people just held the outside of the cup, most don't even have handles. |

I understand that, my guess is that, if you walk into a shop and as you get closer to the cup it looks "fine " design and all. But as you take it home and actually use it, you realize the handles are small, maybe the handles are small so you focus on the design first. |

Tea cups have small handles , dear unless you have huge hands the average coffe mug should be big enough for you , at least to wrap your fingers - not your entire hand around |

I agree with you. That's why I'd rather use mugs, besides a mug holds more coffee.... :-) I guess coffee cups handles are small coz traditionally back in the Victorian times, the wealthy ppl were supposed to be very articulate in manners and the way they drank coffee.. sip by sip.... with the little finger crookedly pointed out, while just the thumb and pointer used to pick up the small cup must seem a turn-on during those times... lmao |

Coffee cups in coffee shops, etc. have small handles becasue they don't break as easily during washing and handling. |
