How to Appreciate the Men in Your Life

I came across this little story on Facebook today, posted by Glennis Lamb. It reminded me of all the times I’ve screamed about shoes crossing the floor, when I maybe should have just appreciated the effort they were going to, so I didn’t have to walk on the ice. I have a new appreciation for the “guys” in my life. The recent snow storm really dumped a lot of snow on us. Blake went out … continue…

The Life of Jack Emmitt

He might have been a tad short for his weight, but no one would have dared to tell him so. The pudgy Jack Emmitt wore a belt around his middle like an equator, barely noticed and not for the purpose of holding up his pants. For that purpose he wore a pair of black suspenders with a single red stripe along the outer edge and a clasp in the middle of his back emblazoned ”MAC” as if … continue…

My Guys…

He’s three. The Colm in our life storm, he challenges every moment of our existence and reminds us of the pleasure that comes from the calm after the storm. In pre-school, he’s surrounded by little boys, in a class with only a couple of girls, so he refers to them as “my guys” and he sees them every day. At least, every day when he attends pre-school, for two and a half hours. Today, after … continue…

The Last Man Standing…

On a dark night long after the sun had disappeared beneath the horizon, I sat cross legged in the middle of the picnic table on my front deck talking to my best friend. My husband of twelve years had walked out a few months earlier and even though it was October, the night was warm. Loneliness had wormed its way into my life and I hadn’t been able to sleep. To be totally honest, it … continue…

Coffee @ Solid Grounds with Jan Verhoeff

Having coffee with Jan Verhoeff is almost always educational. I learn the most interesting things about web design, about writing, and about my business. As a masseuse, promoting good health care and selling my own select essential oils, I find the best part of talking to Jan is that she actually understands what I do. Albeit, because she takes advantage of my expertise and invites me to her home for massage therapy and other exciting … continue…

Snippets: Watch Dog

Snippets by Jan Verhoeff “Casey, the dog isn’t moving! I swear he isn’t.” Joe leaned further out the window, “See, even when I toss something at him, he doesn’t move. He’s dead.” “Joe, he isn’t dead. I promise you, that dog is not dead. If we go down there he will chase us and I will lay you down a dollar, he’ll bite you in the butt.” Casey challenged, “You know he will!” “Well, I’m … continue…

Cleve Tidwell’s Holiday Rant

My Holiday Rant – Let’s talk about a sensible Holiday season. Saving money is more critical now than ever before. Common sense can make a difference. I know you have all the money in the world and you want to try and impress other with your gifting. What if I told you no one gives a crap. Not even your kids. The one thing kids want more from us than anything is our time. Period, … continue…

My prayer…

Oh Lord, today, I thank you for the amazing blessings you’ve provided in my life. I praise you for the prosperity and abundance you provide, for the vast spaces of your design as well as the amazing power you’ve blessed me to possess. For the skills you’ve given me to share and to bless those who surround me. Oh Lord, I pray your loving arms will continue to surround me, protecting me from evil that … continue…

Peppermint Mocha with Sprinkles

So, there I am, sitting in front of the computer working on my WIP (work in progress) and the doorbell rings. Like… The door is just outside my office window. They can see me sitting there writing in my green fleece sweats (not pretty). I peep through the curtains to see if it’s someone that I need to get dressed for… GASP. GASP. GASP. I probably should pass out on the floor so they see … continue…
